Our family decided to go to the open house of the Vancouver B.C. Temple. We started out early on Saturday morning so that we could stop by Tom's favorite bakery. It is a Filipino bakery that takes Tom back to his mission days. So as we traveled to Canada, we started seeing signs saying that the border was having delays, 45 mins, then 1 hour, then 1 1/2 hours. We started to get a little nervous. When we got there this is what we saw:
We were at the border for about 2 hours. We did see alot of white shirts and ties, and many many girls in dresses. HMMMM I wonder where they were going. The kids thought it was fun to stand in 2 countries at the same time like this:
So when we finally arrived to the temple, there was no room to park. The overflow church was full, the Temple lot was full and the Stake Center was full, so they were sending us to the overflow event parking which was 5 miles away. So Tom dropped Kylie and I off to start standing in the LONG line at the Temple, and when he did this a kind person let us know they were leaving, and gave us their spot right outside the Temple. So to get into the Temple Tour it took us about 3 hours total.
The kids did great, and the outside walk ways were covered so we were not getting wet.
The Temple is beautiful, and it is a medium size temple. Our kids wanted to stop in the store to get the famous SMARTIES chocolate candies, and ofcourse who could leave with out pickle chips and ketchup chips. Things were definitely different in food and prices, and gas was by the liter so it looked cheaper but REALLY NOT! It was a great day, but very long. We left our home at 7:30 am and returned at 8:00pm. That was our out of this "Country" Experience.

So glad you got to take your family to the temple as well. The family pic of you in front of the temple looks familiar (we have almost the same one!). What a great way to show our kids how important the Temple is to us!
I'm glad you got to go! Do you have a passport, Dedra, or did you get the special driver's license? Wish we could have gone! Even with all the waiting, it sounds like you had a great experience.
Tom and I had our passports from our trip to England that didn't happen but hey we got out of the country if you call it that.
Remember going to Girls Camp in Cranbrook Canada? That was our first experience with the ketchup chips... I still prefer the salt and vinegar chips instead... Glad you all had a fun time... Miss you tons!!! :O)
Hooray for Canada! So glad you visited my homeland. I don't know what gas prices are like in BC, but in Alberta they are WAY worse. Okay, I've really got to stop complaining about Canadian prices.
