Day 1 Spring Break

Yeh Right SPRING---We had a winter storm warning in Seattle, BUT we still went. So off we went to CDA Idaho, and it was a bad storm. We started on Snoqualmie Pass and right when we almost turned around to go home, we we deadlocked in traffic at Mile post 44. What do you do when you are in a loaded car with 4 children and anxious to go to Grandma's and grandpa's? Work on your math skills? Question--If you are sitting still at milepost 44 and the 5 car pile up is at milepost 47, there is three lanes of traffic and we approximated every car to be 30 feet. How many cars are waiting with us?

Question? Once you figure out how many cars, when the pass finally opens, given that each car takes 10 seconds to get moving, how long does it take you to finally move? So along with math questions, we sang songs, wrote on the fogged windows, oh and yes I did squeegee alot on my window, (Tom was trying to preserve heat and gas) I was feeling a bit claustrophobic with not being able to see out the windows. We did start to count how many people visited the woods ofcourse, people meaning MEN, and start wishing that there was a rest stop closer by. Oh yes, to top it off, we forgot to charge our dvd player, so watching movies were out. Just to give you some hints about how long we were on the mountain, When we stopped chains were advised for everyone, when we finally got to go traction tires only. ALOT of diesels had to take them off, making it easier for cars to go by. A simple 5 hour trip was made alot longer that day, but one we will not forget.
